Inspired by the local natural and cultural ecology of Los Angeles, the “Virgin of Hollywood” presents the famous mountain lion, P22, as an iconic image representing his cultural impact on the urban-wild ecosystem all around the world and particularly for Angelenos. Native wild cucumber vines and clarkia flowers frame the image. The original work is hand-painted acrylic on 30x40 stretched canvas. 15% of profits are donated to local art and environmental organizations.

When Peg Entwistle climbed the 50-foot-tall “H” to take her life, she wasn’t climbing the “Hollywood Sign” as we know it today. It was still the Hollywoodland sign – a real estate developer gimmick trying to sell the chaparral-and-sage-scrub-studded slopes above the little town of Hollywood.

It's often the case that visitors from the east rejoice in and/or lament the lack of seasons in Southern California. But as we develop a relationship with the natural world around us it's not hard to start recognizing that change, even in the city of dreaming angels, is constant. You just have to know where (and when) to look.
