A Journey Through California History and Ecology
Griffith Park and Hollywood Sign Tours
This Hollywood Sign Walking Tour starts at the Canyon Drive entrance and meanders all the way up Brush Canyon visiting riparian, oak woodland, chaparral, and sage scrub communities on the way to the best view of the front of the Hollywood Sign before climbing to the top of Mt. Lee above The Hollywood Sign for unforgettable views of the LA Basin, the Pacific Ocean, the San Fernando Valley and three mountain ranges.
Hike to the Hollywood Sign from the Innsdale entrance - passing the best frontal view of The Hollywood Sign on the way to the top. This is the shortest route to the Hollywood Sign.
Join us for an exciting, hour-long walking tour to the famous “Batcaves” in Griffith Park. Starting at the Brush Canyon parking lot, we’ll take a short, scenic walk to the Batcaves, a former quarry tunnel that became iconic as the exterior location for the 1960s Batman TV series. Though the tunnel is closed to the public, the surrounding landscape holds stories of California’s rich geology and ecology. At the Batcaves, we’ll reflect on its pop culture legacy and its geological origins. Bring good shoes, a hat, sunscreen, and water. Keep your eyes peeled for rattlesnakes, tarantulas, coyotes, bobcats, and more!
Keith from Redding
“My wife and I generally have not associated Los Angeles with nature, but on a recent visit for a family reunion we had an extra day and wanted to explore something different. We heard about Earth City Wonder from a friend and decided to try out a hike to the Batcaves. Holy Batcave! What a hidden gem! Yes, we got to see Bruce Wayne's Batcave, but our well-informed guide, Jeremiah, introduced us to all kinds of plants and history from the area. We had been looking for something to pass the time for our day in LA but didn't expect to walk away entertained and wanting more. We highly recommend this unique nature tour right in the heart of LA..”
