WHERE TO PARK TO HIKE TO THE HOLLYWOOD SIGN
4 Popular Routes to the Hollywood Sign. Where to park depends on which route you choose. Find the one that’s right for you.
Whatever route you choose, you’re in for a treat because the Hollywood Sign is located in Griffith Park – one of the largest “urban wildernesses” in the country.
At over 4300 acres it’s four times bigger than Golden Gate Park and five times bigger than Central Park.
“P22 El Virgen de Hollywood” Why the Virgin of Guadalupe? Why P22?
Inspired by the local natural and cultural ecology of Los Angeles, the “Virgin of Hollywood” presents the famous mountain lion, P22, as an iconic image representing his cultural impact on the urban-wild ecosystem all around the world and particularly for Angelenos. Native wild cucumber vines and clarkia flowers frame the image. The original work is hand-painted acrylic on 30x40 stretched canvas. 15% of profits are donated to local art and environmental organizations.
The Brush Canyon Naturalist Workshop: A Hands-On Naturalist Experience
The Brush Canyon Naturalist Workshop welcomes naturalists of all levels to practice their craft and build a community of like-minded nature lovers under the guidance of a Certified California Naturalist in the urban wilds of Brush Canyon in Griffith Park.

At the time it was still the Hollywoodland sign – a marketing gimmick created by real estate developers trying to sell the chaparral-and-sage-scrub-studded slopes above the little town of Hollywood.
The Giant Blazing Star: A Late Summer Wonder in the Heart of Los Angeles
It's often the case that visitors from the east rejoice in and/or lament the lack of seasons in Southern California. But as we develop a relationship with the natural world around us it's not hard to start recognizing that change, even in the city of dreaming angels, is constant. You just have to know where (and when) to look.
